why is my blogger dashboard in CHINESE?!?!?!?!!? @#@$*%%W#@
shall talk about something light hearted after the previous post of the BS and the chinese blogger dashboard. caught up with a JC fren today for lunch after like erm 3 years?? oh well, it's always the thought that counts... i hardly keep in contact with jc frenz except for a few hard core ones. hmmm... im happier in uni and sec school days anyway.
visited a japanese restaurant at far east plaza called wasabi tei. the chef was famous for his grouchyness. indeed true cuz the chef scolded a customer. shop space was pweety small, like normal far east shop lor cannot squeeze too many people de. the restaurant is forever fullhouse and it can only house like 18 customer at any one full time. so foten gotta Q and the Q is always long but we had so much to chat and it ease the waiting pain. serves very authentic japanese food, very fresh sashimi and big serving. BY tried the saba and it was fantastic manz! saba was very very fresh. i tried the chicken and egg bento, serving is real big (imagine sand says serving is huge). it comes in sets so there's miso soup and fruits. had a very fulfilling lunch.
coming to the story abt the chef. it's very grouchy even at customer, no smile no warmth no friendliness. instead im not put off by his grouchyness but some bit of respect. a customer walked in wanting to chop seats for his fren but the shop is very small and chopping seats is not allowed cuz of the long Q. so which means u come must be in full number, any late comers will have to Q separately. so this customer insisted in chopping an extra seat but the chef is very unhappy abt it. so he scolded the customer and the customer talked back saying things like:
Chef: Cannot chop seats
Customer: My fren is coming. I read newspapers.
Chef: Sit down already must order.
Customer: I order first lah
Chef: Eat until so bu gan yuan den dun eat. I dun wan do your business.
(Customer continues flipping newspapers)
(Chef continues rattling about not cooking for the customer.)
Chef (to his assistant): So xing ku, i dun wan do his business.
But the assistant continues to serve the cold dishes to the customer cuz the customer's fren has arrived. I was stunned by the commotion though my fren had told me about the chef while Q-ing. Im not put off by his customer service but i respect him for abiding to his principles. Somehow feels that he used to learn authentic jap cooking skills in jap cuz he gives me the feeling haha. feels that he respects jap culture very much. another customer footed the bill and told the chef's assistant "tell him to smile more". The chef heard this comment and gave the customer a nod acknowledging his advice and appreciation but still.. without a smile. Well, if he's really bad tempered he would have given this 2nd customer a good thrashing like how he did to the first customer but he dint. So i guess he's still very rational. i do respect him cuz his food taste not bad and as long as u dun offend his principles, meals can b satisfying.
i couldnt finish the rice and was quite afraid that the chef will scold me for wasting food. afterall rice in japan is very ex. so i was kinda scared of that... lolx but my fear proves unnecessary.
bet i will visit this place again but must afford to have more time than usual :)
